You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll learn to love again.
Elyse also wants a better name for her blog. Something punny or that rhymes. Something cool.Elysehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12618158608687332190noreply@blogger.comBlogger106125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5740377616516417447.post-25594640342351217742012-03-14T23:54:00.001+11:002012-03-14T23:57:58.847+11:00Tattoo Fears
Yesterday, I spent my day being stabbed multiple times in the wrist.

Yes, an oddly specific place, but what actually happened is I got a new tattoo.

Here is a picture!

Yep, that's a close up of my wrist. Be jealous.

See, that is pretty cool but I am deeply concerned about what this means for me.
You see, this is not my first tattoo.

No, I got my first tattoo in February, 2005. That date is important to note.
This is my first tattoo:

I apologise for the crappy photo, that is a tattoo on my back with a photo I took myself using my laptop, thus very hard to be able to get the pose right.

Yes, the Southern Cross.
I am Australian, it's on our flag. I was clearly a very patriotic 18 year old.

The thing is, that in December 2005, Australia saw this little thing called "The Cronulla Riots." Kind of after that a lot of people got their Aussie pride on and started getting Southern Cross Tattoos and by "Aussie Pride", I mean in a very unwelcoming, the get the fuck out of my country kind of way and now as a result, I come across as a racist bogan. This is a great article that sums up my plight.

That happened after I got my last lot of ink, so now it is up for me to speculate what is going to happen to make me come across as a horrible person this time.

To start off with it is a Raven.

So what could happen?
A bunch of very eager Edgar Allen Poe fans could go on a murder spree of literary proportions leaving a picture of a raven as Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore".

The Raven itself is actually off the crest of the Ravenclaw emblem (That is not why I got it, it is just the bird I liked).
So, what could happen?
A Bunch of Crazed Ravenclaw fans fed up with the fact people don't know who is there house, some people know Luna Lovegood, but really? Loony?
And then that Harlot Cho Chang! What about the rest of the learned house of Ravenclaw?
In an effort to create more Hogwarts related publicity for those of the Ravenclaw House, people start to take over English parliament and get rid of all lion related material and destroy it!
I was going to suggest ransacking bookstores, but I don't think a Ravenclaw would do that.

It is a black bird, and yes, I did get the tattoo for the song Blackbird by the Beatles and yes, I am aware a blackbird is a type of bird, but I just like the look of ravens... Stop judging me.

So, what could happen?
Some enraged Beatles fans fed up with terrible covers of Blackbird, decide to make those who commit such atrocities in one of two ways, breaking their arms (Yeah, take THOSE broken wings and learn to fly) or poking their eyes out in a violent manner (Yeah, take those sunken eyes and learn to see now, huh buddy? HUH BUDDY?).
Yeah, those people will be waiting for a long while for their moment to be free.

I was told that Ravens are a symbol for Wiccans. A powerful magickal creature able to go through to do the different worlds.
Do you know who that could appeal to? Disenfranchised youth looking for something to associate, call their own and be able to give some kind of power... THE POWER TO DESTROY LIVES! Leaving pictures of the Raven at crime sites painted in blood.

That was a gross imagery, but would still make me look bad.

Blackbirds are plaguing some kind of area and in response farmers plan to wage war on them, only for some fans of the blackbird to defend them. The Blackbird riots cause damage to crops and start a food shortage. People starve! It's chaos... While the Raven croaks nevermore...

So, there are my scenarios for future world events that are going to combine to portray me the worst light humanly possible.

Dear Elyse's Karma,
I don't need you help to make me look bad.
I got that covered.

Regards,

I've seen bits and pieces over the years, mainly from when they go over their fricken time slot and I'm waiting for something else to start, other than the MTV series Made which was just amazing.

The one rule is that reality television is built on the power of their contestants tears, one of the issues with last year's Masterchef Australia is that there was more crying than cooking. Leading to two of the most amazing Facebook groups ever: Mastercher- More Cooking, less sooking, and Masterchef: Less Crying, More Frying.

The theme being those tears you see from the contestant, they aren't coming from the onions they are what failure looks like! You keep crying amateur chefs! YOU KEEP CRYING!!

One would think the minute you sign up for a reality show, you realise they will find your soft underbelly and expose it for all it's worth to make you cry and keep on crying on national TV, and if it is really good YouTube sensation.

For example, I am going to make a reality show and I work in TV so I can totally do that.
It's going to look a bit like this:

The series finale, will feature this shot as the winner:

It really hurts me that I get a clip of Dawson, before I get a clip of Pacey, but that clip is a result of Joey dumping Dawson for Pacey, and that is why it is prime position on my "Making Grown Men Cry" Reality Show.

Getting to my point, I was at work the other day and reading the news, as I only do at work, I'm only informed about the world on Mondays and Fridays, I hope the world doesn't end on any other day. I'll be completely unprepared.
So, I was reading the SMH website and I found this article.

For those against clicking links, more power to you. Mel B, of the Spice Girls Fame.
Let's get a picture happening:

Scary Spice living up to the name

It is a bit disturbing that in looking for that photo a lot of pics Mel C came up. Clearly two different people. Pfft...
Let's also get a Flashback happening so we can be fully aware of just who Mel B is and how awesome she is.

As a side note, Dear potential suitors, if you want to be my lover, please don't get with my friends.

So, that is Mel B, part of one of the most successful girl groups ever and a very important part of my childhood, and let's be honest, if you have Meatloaf driving your bus, you don't have it half bad.

Mel B is currently a judge of Australia's X Factor. A great judge too, she goes straight for the tears, which in the end what makes a great a judge and a great mentor since that's the stuff you need to hear.

So, in the process of judging some dude that was crap in his performance and Mel B rightfully called bullshit.

The dude's response, his name is Luke O'Dell, if anyone cares... No-one? Moving on.

"Mel B just performed on X Factor lol so bad and this lady judged me? She needs a reality check,

Number one, she is Mel B, she is a Spice Girl. She has sold more records, DVDs, posters and other general Popstar merch than you will ever see in your life.

Ultimately, the minute you sign up for a talent show, you are opening yourself to be judged. Not just by very qualified people, such as Mel B, who if anything knows the business and knows what one has to do to make it.

But you are being judged by absolutely everyone. That's part of the deal. You sell your soul and pay with tears. Basically, the audience doesn't want people to succeed. We want failure. Lots and lots of failure.

Though, at the end of the day, the most offensive part of that statement, ignoring the obvious disrepect, is that you don't need talent to be able to judge and to judge well.

Just because you can't perform well, which is arguable in a don't you don't be disrespecting no Spice Girl, to be able to judge well.

Let's look at Simon Cowell.

Ladies...

We may stop looking now.

This is the dude that created X Factor and American Idol.

He judges and is the bitchy judge. He bathes in tears of broken dreams.

I don't see anyone saying that he can't judge because he can't perform. No, because he will take that person and shatter all their hopes and dreams until the have nothing left.

Which I'm hoping is Mel B's next plan.

But the end of the day, if you are going to participate in reality TV. You have sold your soul, you'll cry and you will be judged. Often and for many different reasons. You will also be called different names.

Apparently Adam

Just for the record, not all music you download is illegal.

I mean downloading is just a phrase you use to say you got something from the internet.
Why are you all judging me?

I'm all about supporting music and small bands and all that jazz.
For example, one of the recent things I downloaded was Bravo, Max!
I totally bought their music because it had an accordion and mandolin in it and more importantly, their name was Bravo, Max!
Yes, it takes little to get my interest. They are a good band, I'm enjoying it.

Anyway, that was me getting defensive about my music habits. The Audio Engineer in me some days feels a need to defend myself against myself. I think I have bigger issues here.

Moving on...

So! One of the things I gathered in my music spree was the soundtrack to the last episodes of season 2 of Glee.
In particular, the songs from the finale. I remember being really unimpressed with the season finale as a whole and that it was a weak finish to what was looking to a promising end. Weak, weak finish.

But as I sit here typing listening to my Glee soundtrack, amongst other thing things which are the Bravo, Max! and my beloved Taylor Swift. I note that I have really really strange music taste.

I keep getting on a lot of tangents tonight, my apologies.
So, listening to the Glee soundtrack, I'm digging it and then I think to myself "Yeah, I should totally rewatch that episode! It would be awesome! Listen to the music!" then no! Just no!
They try and woo me with Puck on an Accordion!
Let's just enjoy that...

You'd think that typing "Puck Piano Accordion" into Google images would give that image towards the top.
And you'd be wrong.

This pic comes up before Puck with a Piano accordion.

And I can't tell, but that might be a mountain goat.
Seriously, what is it with the goats?
If not, what is that? Is it an antelope?

Going back to my music knowledge.
I dig the songs, but you know what was thing that made the episode a spectacular failure for me.

Patti LuPone.
Now, don't get me wrong, I love Patti LuPone, but do you know why?
Because of this:

She literally stops in the middle of the show's big number to yell at an audience member.
What is best someone did this:

And then she meets Rachel and is all not crazy and all gracious?
It made me die a little bit on the inside.

I also love the internet. Since the Patti LuPWNed is amazing.

However, no matter how much I could understand them not wanting Patti LuPone to not be crazy, which is weird, I really wanted a Rachel Berry vs Patti LuPone smackdown but alas, nothing like that. That would have been amazing.
I guess, Santana having to be held back from a smackdown will do plenty for my Glee and Santana love.

I think it all comes back to the thing I need to remember is that Glee is good for music, terrible for storylines.
But I know this, I accept this.
Plus, I guess, if I really want to continue my Patti LuPone beats up Rachel Berry, there is always fanfic.
Do you think that exists?
Oh, who am I kidding?
It's the internet. Of COURSE it exists.

Elysehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12618158608687332190noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5740377616516417447.post-75888099789810871722011-09-11T02:27:00.000+10:002011-09-11T02:27:00.271+10:00Elyse's Misadventures with WordsWriting short posts freak me out too, but this won't be too long. By my standards.

I have this terrible problem with words and you know reading, and that is when words are similar I often put in the wrong one.
The best story I have of this recently is that I had an assignment a couple of weeks ago on file conversions, however, in my report, I didn't write the word conversion. I wrote conversation. Over and over again, except in the first incident. So I got it right once, but primarily I wrote conversation.
I didn't notice. How I found out was that they went through the assignments in class. When I wasn't there.
Thankfully, that lecturer didn't care too much about that and I didn't lose any marks, he did find it really amusing though.

So, yes, I have an issue with words that look similar but are real words. Thankfully, I have spell check every where which makes my spelling better.

Just basically, I quite often make mistakes with the wrong words and spelling, so you'll just have to bear with me.

Is it bear with me or bare with me?
I can't even tell which is right.

So, let's just go with this:

Yay! Favourites!

It is time for Inadvertently Ask Elyse, where I take all the people who have stumbled upon my blog with their questions and answer them like they were actually asking me.

I can only hope that I have taught people the value of the side hug and the most appropriate places to side hug (with photos!)

And since the last Inadvertently Ask Elyse was here and that was like a year ago, I have a lot to catch up on.
I do know that the most frequent search request I get is about kid goats and I have that covered for all you goat lovers out there. Read that and look at the cute pictures of goats.
With a closer inspection, not only is the kid goat number one my searches, it also appears another 11 times within the list of searches.

Where is all this goat loving coming from?
I think I've doomed my internet writing career to goats and hugs.

You know, I don't have a problem with this.

Should we move onwards because I do have a lot of stuff to write about hugs.

One Sided Hugs
The first thing we need to clarify with the one sided hug is do you mean that it is emotionally only one sided. The longing hug you give when you are madly in love with the person you are hugging but they are just hugging you in a platonic manner, or the "I'm hugging you, why aren't you hugging me?"
Like this:

The wolf is not enjoying the bear hug.

The alternative is that it is just a two person side hug, which means that only one side is involved.

You can also have a situation that combines the two:
Side Hug From A Guy

I can only assume if you are getting a side hug from a guy are concerned about it, you have seen this and you are just doing your Christian duty, so you keep up the good work until there is a ring on that finger.

The Christian Side Hug is never not funny.

Side Hugs are For Friends
Woah, step back there.
Side Hugs are for EVERYONE!

Ramblings of Elyse
That's me!
In fact, this search might have been mean...
Apparently I suck at answering my own questions. Oh... well... Moving along!

When writing songs don't be literal
This is a hard one, since I do listen to a lot of musicals and when you are writing an exposition song, which is a very important part of writing songs to a musical, you need to go the literal place. If all your exposition is in metaphor then your plot becomes like the wind and hard to see, you can feel it in places but it is just all over the places.
See what I did there?
I doubt it because that wasn't a metaphor, it was a simile.
There is a place for metaphors, simile, euphemisms and other ways to talk around things. Yeah, we get you are trying to woo the man or woman of your choice through song, but you can just put it straight out there and it works or you can go straight up confusing metaphor.

Just try and remember what words actually mean.

"a short poem or other set of words set to music or meant to be sung"
What is a ballad?

"leave our boats behind"
I know this as a song that is the Galilee Song, however, that is not as fun.

This is what I would yell across that sea as my pirate saying, and then if they didn't leave their boats behind, I'd shoot cannons and force them do so and then those boats would be mine. Muwhahahahaha!

Are literal versions of songs real?
They are real in the terms at they exist as a piece of music, but they are not performed by the people who wrote the original song, nor are they the same lyrics. Naturally, this is what makes it funny.
But why would that stop it from being real?

Best literal version of song
Total Eclipse of the Heart, without a doubt. I would link but it is no longer available in my country and I just died on the inside.

Buffy lore crosses
The cross in Buffy is used as a repellent against vampires, it doesn't actually kill them it merely burns them and while the vampire doesn't like it, they can stand it in situations such as at the end of the Buffy episode Angel where Angel and Buffy kiss and Buffy is wearing a cross necklace, the one she got from Angel in Welcome the Hellmouth, and when she leaves there is a close up of Angel's chest which features the burnmark of the cross.
In most cases it works to repeal, but in the case of vampire nutbags such as Kralik from Helpless who kind of digs the pain, but you know nutbag.

The cross is also used in rituals such as the vampire uninvited spell that requires hanging of the cross. I believe in traditional vampire law the cross is representative of the faith of the person wielding it and that is where the power comes from, so it is debatable whether a Star of David would have the same effect for someone that is Jewish, such as Willow in the world of Buffy. It is worth mentioning that since when Willow is putting up the cross she makes a comment about how her Jewish dad is not likely to be happy.
As the series progresses vampires become less and less prominent as villains and as a result there is less and less cross play in Buffy.

Can a hug be assault
Yes, it can, but I'm pretty sure at that point we wouldn't call it a hug.
The best example of this would be the bear hug, which is an actual attack move, as well as a particularly strong hug.
There is a fine line in some cases and it comes down to intent.
Also, good life advice: Don't hug real bears. Even the wolves don't like it.

Don't Stop Believing Australia Rob Mills
No, Australia, please stop believing in Rob Mills. Go away Millsy! GO AWAY!!

Elyse Fillion
That is who I would be if I married Nathan Fillion, and last time I checked that wasn't in the cards. I wouldn't say no, but you know, just gotta wait for that one.
Sorry Taylor.

Elyse needs
Oh, I need so many things... So, so many things.
I think I might start with Nathan Fillion to call me.
I mean, I have Rock Band, what is more rock and roll than that?

Seriously, this is rock and roll:
<----- Rock and Roll Right there...

You can just feel my passion for the music.

'
I have a photo of me drinking beer and playing drums at the same time, but in the interest of not getting people I don't talk to anymore stalked and my laziness in editing and photos, it isn't a sound file, I'd have to work out how to actually do that.

Hey man! You just lay off! All I'm just doing is trying to keep things interesting, I don't need this attitude!!!

I'm leaving!!

Oh, Taylor, you are there. Yeah, I guess I'm ok, I just had a fight with my imaginary readers.

It's ok, Taylor. It happens, I'm working on my issues, but right now, I just need to accept that but in the meantime I probably should stop talking to photos.

Woah man, I get it, drama isn't cool, but what did you do with Taylor?
Dude! Not cool!!

Now, I should use real words and not pictures because at the end of the day I am an audio person... Which I guess isn't helpful at all in this context.
Actually, that's a lie, we are talking about music. Music is totally audio.

I love music personally, did you not see me rocking out on those drums? Yeah, rock and roll!
But there is one thing when one is rock and roll and that means you can't like certain groups without some kind of label being attached, but I am pretty sure it is actually impossible to label my music genre it is just far to everything, I can't label it but that's because I actually suck at stereotyping. I have a friend that helps me do that.

At the end of the day, I like rock and roll, I like ska, I like musicals and frequently I have the musical taste of a 12 year old girl.

Now all of that is out of the way, I am going to say it...

I love Taylor Swift.

If only I could be that guitar...

I joke about that, only because last night I was asked if I was going to marry Taylor Swift.
I said I would, in Canada, since then it would be legal.

I have since changed my mind that I am in fact not going to marry Taylor Swift because when we break up, which is likely to happen since our schedules would just not work out and it would be painful, so painful we all know she is going to write an album about it and how I broke her heart and everyone would know they would be all like "Oh, there goes Elyse she totally broke Taylor Swift's heart and Taylor Swift was always so nice not that horrid Elyse!".
My fictional love with Taylor Swift is complicated.

I couldn't be with Adele for the same reason.

Sorry solo female artists of the world who sell records about heartbreak!

Perhaps, we should move on the to the music side, it seems less complicated and you know real.

Mainly, I actually really want to talk about the song "You Belong With Me".

Do we all need to take a minute to enjoy the song?
It's ok, let us take a minute, relax, get our thoughts together.
To just stop and love Taylor.

This film also has the classic pop move double role. So, we get double the Taylor action.
I have a special love for Bitchy!Taylor in this one, I don't even know why, but it is delightful.

I like the song, I do, but Taylor, hunni, you can wear t-shirts and short skirts at the same time. They are not mutually exclusive.
When I was looking for a picture to demonstrate this is what I got. Ladies, men who like to wear skirts, you are welcome.

However, I did an actual example:

"Yeah, look at this Taylor Swift"

Look! Completely possible to wear a t-shirt and short skirt.
That is a bad opening argument Taylor! You need to lead with your strong points!
Start with how you both enjoy writing signs to each other in an art book that is conveniently located near your window which is located near your dreamboat.

It finally occured to me the other day as I drove home listening to my Taylor, that maybe Taylor wears T-Shirts instead of short skirts and without pants.

In this style:

Having accepted that Taylor Swift just likes to be pantless made me be able to accept that is just how Taylor is and well, I guess that is why we belong together.

It seems only fair that it should end up like this...

It looks like I'm playing a G chord on that sign...

Elysehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12618158608687332190noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5740377616516417447.post-75935998254707181092011-09-06T01:09:00.000+10:002011-09-06T01:09:35.841+10:00Goats, what is up with that?It is amazing how often I stop and think to myself "I can't believe I just wrote that", the title of this today's blog is another case of this. You would think that the amount of crap I talk I would get over it, but some times it just seems weird to me.

However, it is my duty to preserve on in this challenge.

I have always tried within this blog to keep up some consistency and create themes and the creation of a cohesive unit, it very rarely works, but since that is just how I operate then we all have to deal. Or mainly, you have to deal. It doesn't effect me all that much since I'm not actually reading the blog. Maybe I should start doing that to make my writing better, yeah?
Moving on, but one of the ways I wanted to do that was to create a regular segment of Inadvertently Ask Elyse.
As a side note, today I discovered that I mispelt inadvertently incorrectly in that post I linked and I only discovered because in my labeling I had it there twice.
I probably should do short posts about Elyse's misadventures in writing and mistakes that I can't see until it is obviously pointed out. (If anyone wants that, tell me and I will, after all I do take requests).

Ok, so Inadvertently Ask Elyse is looking at the searches people have done in Google to get into my blog and taking those and answering those inquiries as if they were asking me. It combines two of my favourite things- Google and being a smartarse, I mean just thrown in some schnitzel with noodles and brown paper packages tied up with string and it is the best day ever. It would make me sing in the mountains.

And with that super smooth segue, let's take a musical interlude:

The point of that?
So, I was researching for my next Inadvertently Ask Elyse and because of my year long hiatus, I looked at it for the entire year, the number one search "kid goat".

Which looks a little like this:

I just added that because kids are super cute. Seriously, look at that goat! Super cute! You are kidding if you disagree! I mean, imagine the bill for that!
That billy goat joke didn't quite work, I will also keep a hold on my goat puns.

So, the most frequent search, "kid goat" and it is the most by a lot, about triple the searches of number two most frequent search which is "side hug", as it should rightfully be. This seemed quite unusual, so I did research.
My research started with Google and typed in "kid goat", maybe for some reason people don't talk about kid goats on the internet and my blog ends up on the first couple of pages.

It doesn't.
I could have kept looking, but dude, after 6 pages on Google looking for myself it started to seem a little weird.
Next path was to see just how often I talk about goats, which is most likely a you're kidding me, when talking about goats (or small children... more often goats though).
Goat only appears once in my blog. In the Inadvertently Ask Elyse that I linked at the beginning of the page talking about goats. I swear it is like I entered the Google version of the Time Loop Paradox.

Apparently, out in my very small part of the internet, I have created a safe haven for those who want to search for baby goats, and I say more power to you.

Now, only if people want to give side hugs to kid goats then that is the ultimate way for me to increase my traffic flow.

Just as a tip, if you do plan to hug a goat, it would be best hugging technique to go for a side hug, or at least a half side hug. A half side hug being where one half of the hug is on the side, that would be the goat.
So here is the half side goat hug:

As you can see, the dude there is front hugging, while the goat is in a side hug.

Now, just for the cutest thing I could have stolen to demonstrate a Kid Goat Side Hug:

Excuse me, I need to go break into a farm to hold a goat now.
Wish me luck!

The hugging goat photos I stole from here. It features lots of people hugging goats. Good people. Elysehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12618158608687332190noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5740377616516417447.post-65431467450688734562011-09-04T23:22:00.001+10:002011-09-04T23:22:39.195+10:00All my life lessons from TetrisI was looking to go to a website that I have in my bookmarks, which is really not organised. It brought me shame.
On the way to violating international copyright law, which as a side note, I ended up buying on iTunes (Support the music industry!). Ok, it was actually because I couldn't find it anywhere else. Support independent music!

My distractions know no bounds. I'm amazing.

In my list of bookmarks I have just a whole bunch of random articles bookmarked, I have some ones that I am awfully fond of such as these two. You are welcome.

This is the most disjointed beginning to a topic I have ever written.

However, it does have a point, I randomly clicked the wrong link and got this comic:

Pic from: Minor Chaos

Now, to get things clear, I love Tetris. I am excellent at Tetris and dammit, it is high time that I add Tetris to my dictionary because I am sick of my spell check saying it is not a real word, but it's not just a real word it is a real way of life.

I know it is simple minded to learn ALL my life lessons from Tetris, since I watch TV and read books and I did learn that is "best not to dwell in dreams and forget how to live", nor that "Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure" or that not all who wander a lost, but I never read that book or saw the movie, I just found it on a quote website and it stuck with me.

Then again, these same things offer terrible life lessons, refer to anything to do with Spike on Buffy.

However, from the comic we learn the lesson of compromise and it's true, you just wait and wait for that long piece to make all your Tetris dreams come true but the real lesson to learn from Tetris is that is it is life. Not in the Tetris is my life kind of way but that Tetris is a metaphor for life.

I'm sure you are now looking at your screen with a look of disbelief at my crazy talk right now or you are thinking about all those things that are metaphors for life, but they aren't really. You know why?

Because you can't win at Tetris. You don't win.

That's right, Tetris BEAT you.

I am, of course talking about real Tetris, you can get versions of Tetris "marathon" that caps out at 15 levels, but that's not real Tetris.

Real Tetris just keeps sending pieces until you cap out at the top.

Think about life. Life keeps going out until you die. You can't beat life. You don't win at the end.

But a game of Tetris is like life, but not like the Game of Life, so at the beginning you start with nothing. Just a blank stage on which you create the building blocks and get a good foundation going, as you reach milestones you get to a higher level and the speed slowly increases and you don't really notice. Ok, I don't really notice but I'm freakishly good at Tetris, so there's that.

Then the thing with Tetris is that it doesn't always go to plan, you have no control of what comes next. You might get the straight piece when you don't need and you could be waiting for the straight piece so long you the cap out.

Your playing strategy might not be the going for Tetrises, which is 4 lines for those not in the know.

Either way, you have your way, you have to work with what you get, the only second chances you get are the ones you make yourself. There is luck in what pieces you get, but it's how you use them that counts.

You start, you game over. You are born, you die.
Things happen in the middle, you have high points, you have low points. It is nigh impossible to not make mistakes in a game of Tetris, some you can get out of, some you can't.

Such is life.
Such is Tetris.

Well, I think if you have talked to me in any context you would have realised that I am a massive nerd, I some times think I hide the Harry Potter stuff well.
Except when we talk about Harry Potter and then well, like Clark Kent stripping in a phone booth my nerd comes out. With less stripping. Sorry team.

The final installment of Harry Potter film series came out, well some time ago in terms of the premeire and all that but considering I hate the movies and the crowds, I waited and waited I did and I went tonight to the independent cinema up the mountains. It's just so nice to get out of Sydney to fuel my rage.
I kid, it's like 20 minutes away. But it is a great little theatre and there was like 12 people there so it was awesome.

Now, I feel that before I get my rant underway I should mention a few things.
I will be getting my rant on. That's pretty much why I'm here.
There will be spoilers.
I have strong opinions about what is right and what is very, very wrong.

I started off my journey tonight by putting on my Hufflepuff scarf, no one ever notices it is a Hufflepuff scarf coz my house gets no love, but as I sat in my car outside I realised that the chances of someone in Hufflepuff appearing in the movie was pretty much none existant.
I had seen the seven movies that came before it, I was prepared for everything I love about the Harry Potter world to be spat upon.
That was hyperbole. It wasn't EVERYTHING, just most things.

Now, let's start with a few things...
I am pretty sure that somewhere through the course of the Harry Potter movies Emma Watson sold her soul or just became corrupted to the world because she has really dead eyes. I mean I am convinced she is dead inside. I don't want to say that, I mean Hermione is my favourite characters from the books. Well, out of the main ones, it is when I make up backstory in my head about others they get taken over but that's not the point. My love for Book Hermione just doesn't transfer well on screen, I don't want to say it is because Emma Watson is dead on the inside, but I'm pretty sure she is dead on the inside.

Knowing my luck someone is going to google "Emma Watson Dead on the Inside" and then come here and that will be awkward. Though, it's ok, I actually googled that and ended up with this and that is way harsher than anything I could ever write.

For anyone that is still reading this and haven't read the book of Deathly Hallows, I must say, good for you, but the book is weirdly paced. It starts off when they rescue Harry from the Dursleys and a chases scene, there there is some stuff in the Burrow and then they go camping for half the book. I mean other stuff happens, but they essentially go camping and then they are captured and Hermione is tortured. This is the first movie and I feel that Hermione was not tortured enough in the movie but alas, my issues.
The second half, and thus the second movie, it's actually not even half, the camping goes on for fucking ever. It is MONTHS in the timeline of Harry Potter, the final part of the book is like a day.
So, the second half, they plan to break into the wizarding bank and then they go straight to Hogsmeade and Hogwart for Battle.
Leaving the second half of Deathly Hallows to be pretty much all the action sequences. Most of the things from that point are very quick moving, plotwise.

The biggest thing that all the movies don't include is the research and the planning, in the books that is a big deal, the fact that Hermione spends all time in the library researching various things for the end so she has her shit together and can save the day in her very Hermione-eqsue way. Say what you want but so many people would be dead if it weren't for Hermione, I'd start off with Harry on that list, but it also includes Ron, Ginny, Sirius, Buckbeak.... Lots more Harry. In this versions re-read I only got to Prisoner of Azkaban so I can't give a really good and complete list. Now, I'm sure you are saying that Hermione didn't individually save those people, no, I'm not. I'm saying she came through with the vital information or had access to the vital device, which in the case of Sirius and Buckbeak is the TimeTurner.
I mention all of this because there is a whole bunch of planning that goes into the breaking into Gringotts, including Bill warning them that they can't trust the Goblin, but also doesn't feature the conversation of how Ron & Harry had planned to double cross him anyway. All of this information is kind of vital to go into the Gringotts scene and have it make sense. Just coherant sense in terms of a movie, I relied on my knowledge of the book a lot for things to make sense.
Though, they left out the part where the run into a deatheater in Gringotts, Travers I believe, who is going to ruin the plan so they impurious him.

The Gringotts scene is home to my biggest complaint and that is pants in the wizarding world. Seriously, in the books there is all this talk about how wizards really struggle in the Muggle world, much like how muggles would struggle in the wizard world and one of this is how they dress, it has constantly been an issue and in fact the first introduction to the wizarding world in the books is because wizards dress funny.
Do the Gringotts guard look out of place as muggle security guards? NO! There lies the problem!
That and I don't think Goblins would trust wizards enough for security.
As for my wizards in pants issue, I appriecate that most of the death eaters wear proper robes and Kingsley Shacklebolt, he also wears proper robes. Good man.

I love the dude that plays Aberforth Dumbledore was amazing. It was really too bad that they took out the fact he rescued them and put himself at risk with the patronus and the fact that the whole thing with the Dumbledore family is lost in the plot, when it is kind of important in understanding a lot about Dumbledore, especially why Dumbledore didn't trust himself in going after the Deathly Hallows, then again, there is nothing explained about the Deathly Hallows... Well, that IS annoying. They do seem to realy a lot on the pre-knowledge that has coming with reading the books otherwise things don't make sense.

Ok, so most the stuff previously I've mentioned, I haven't had a real issue with. Except the pants, I have a big issue with that, but it's small things, but you know considering that most of the movie IS a big motherfucking battle, I should talk about that.
Pretty much everything goes to hell with making sense with the book the moment that Harry steps through the door of the Room of Requirement.
They really don't emphasis just the shit that had been happening in Hogwarts, most importantly, in the 7th book it is the time for Neville to shine.
In the begining and throughout most of the books it was always a question on why Neville was sorted itno Gryffindor, the house of the brave, when he seemed anything but. But in the 7th book! That is answered and more! Neville starts a rebellion against Snape and the Carrows, the rebellion is with Ginny and Luna, but Ginny and Luna eventually are taken out of school and kidnapped respectively leaving Neville to fight by himself. The best line Neville gets is "I'm a pure blood, so they won't spill too much of my blood", so he stuck up for everyone and was the leader.
He was just awesome.
Then Harry comes and he is like "I have to do this stuff" and Neville gets his team together to fight with him and cause the distraction, and everyone comes together at that point and thus the fight begins as Harry leaves the Room of Requirement and everyone prepares to fight.
That's not what happened in the movie, it all kind of went all over the place.
Plus, Slytherin were kicked out in the movie, but in the book everyone who was not of age was kicked out. Some stayed, but others did leave. There was a thing about it and how it was like all of Gryffindor, most of Ravenclaw and some of Hufflepuff. But first and foremost the teachers wanted to get the kids especially the young ones out of harms way.
Which was not the case in the movie and everyone just seemed to run around and didn't make sense from many a level.

I guess the biggest thing for me is that it is a Wizard's Duel, a duel is close up. Like with swords or really crappy pistols, but it is one on one close up and trying to attack people. In the movie it seemed like they were artillery shells trying to blow one another up, which just seems like the brutallity of a muggle and not for Wizarding kind.
The thing makes it even make less sense is when in the book Harry and Voldemont are duelling in the Great Hall, while blowing everything the fuck up sort of happened, it wasn't the main attempt, but while that happened duels happened all around them with all sorts of people.
For example, it is Ginny, Luna and Hermione that are fighting with Bellatrix before the infamous "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!" However, fim version- they are kind of standing around and then Bellatrix walks up casts a curse at Ginny, then Mrs Weasley comes along says her line, they through some spells around and the Bellatrix loses and disappears like she is a fucking vampire on Buffy... What the fuck? SHE's a person! THERE WOULD BE A BODY!
Though, even worst then that, Ginny just kind of stands back and watches, but doesn't look phased on what is happening.

I mean what is wrong with these people with all the death and destruction happening and they just have no reactions and not fighting to saved their loved ones?
Though, the complete underwhelming death of Fred Weasley was just sad, where was George's reaction?
But most importantly, where was the return of Percy that happens just before Fred dies? Percy is in the final battle, coz you see him but no mention of the rift being mended.

Though, the worst of the deaths on having no reaction because of the minor role is that of Tonks. Tonks is a big part in the books, none existant in the movies. Neville non-sensically gives her a shout out in his speech, it's non-sensical because they have NOTHING TO DO WITH ONE ANOTHER! EVER!
That being said, the shot of Lupin and Tonks holding hands as they were dead was the second most heartbreaking scene in the movie. Number one being Snape with the dead body of Lily. Heartbreaking. Weird, but heartbreaking. Not making sense in context but heartbreaking.

Alan Rickman did not wrong as Snape, even though some of the content was weird, he absolutely nailed it. Really wished they would have kept in Dumbledore telling Snape that he disgusts him.

I want to take a moment ot give a special moment for a movie based on half a book with weird pacing to end up giving the movie even weirder pacing. It was a special effort.
It really was just all over the place. Just weird.

This is a moment just to reflect on people that were significant to the whole story but weren't actually featured: Colin Creevy, Denis Creevy, Charlie Weasley, The Bloody Baron, Ginny's Ability to Act, most of the Death Eaters by Name, Phineas Nigellus Black (The Portrait from Grimmuald Place), Dumbledore's Portrait, The Ravenclaw Commonroom, Oliver Wood, Katie Bell, Alicia Spinnet, Angelina Johnson, The Carrows, Hannah Abbott, Justin Finly-Finch, The Centors, Professor Trelawny, Neville's Gran, reinforcements from Hogsmeade, Kreatcher leading the House-elves (which was totally a better way for Hermione and Ron to start making out)

Some of them are actually important to the story, such as the Bloody Baron and the Grey Lady. Sigh.
Charlie Weasley got no movie love either. What is with that?

Though, I guess they get some leeway in terms of the Ravenclaw Commonroom since they didn't set up the finding of the diadum in Half Blood Prince, like they do in the book.
But it was in the book when going to the Ravenclaw Common Room that I knew I could never been in Ravenclaw since I suck at riddles.

There is just so many weird things they did that I don't understand. It is action based as it is, why so much change?
And my god, how little chemistry do Ginny and Harry have?
That was the most awkward relationship I have EVER seen.
Especially when you compare the dead inside Hermione hug Harry and not in a I totally am going to ravish you in the common room once we get this war over kind of way.
I mean Voldemort hugging Draco was less awkward.

Just weird.
Just a really weird adaption.

Plus, Neville deserves his fucking moment and he didn't get it good like in the books.
And Harry has a fucking invisibility cloak, it is actually really important to the plot and yet, doesn't take it into battle.

These things just don't make sense.
And it hurts my soul, but finally, I can rest because I've seen them all and they all suck. Elysehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12618158608687332190noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5740377616516417447.post-30774106378858625912011-08-17T02:00:00.000+10:002011-08-17T02:00:00.976+10:00What's up with that: The Time Travel ParadoxIt has been awhile since my last post, over a year I know. I'm sure it hasn't bothered too many since I did declare I was never writing again. Just how life goes.

Though, I make bold declarations and I followed through somewhat, but every now and then my desire to write overrides many things, upto and including common sense.

However, I have a specific topic to write about today and as a result it made my title much easier to create, which a small but powerful win, if you are me and since quite frankly am me I grant a massive huzzah!

I have a fair few obsessive tendencies and one of these obsessive tendencies involves the Harry Potter Books and the Harry Potter movies namely that for each Harry Potter movie I have read all the books before going to see it. For each movie. I also read each book in the series when a new one came out, as a result I am quite familiar with them, but that is merely back-story, so the most recent has been released. I'm told it will make me angry as a purist of the books or namely as a Neville in the 7th book fan. So new movie means it is time for Elyse's re-read of the book. I have just finished the Prisoner of Azkaban, which I completely forgot that would not be resolved at all if it wasn't for Hermione, adding further proof on how Hermione is the actual hero of the Harry Potter books. Thus is comes to the point of time travel.

Time Travel in fiction, which is a stupid thing to write because Time Travel doesn't exist NOT in fiction, but whatever, Time travel is an interesting thing.
In Prisoner of Azkaban, Hermione and Harry use the Time Turner to go back three hours to save Sirius and Buckbeak.
However, it is established that when the first go through the time that the things that their future selves cause are happening then. So, technically they aren't changing anything but merely making sure what happened actually happened.
In the world of Harry Potter, they do not change the past. They make the past.
It can be easy to skip how McNair, who is the executioner of Buckbeak, throws down the axe into the wood in frustration up finding out that Buckbeak has escaped and can't fulfill his bloodlust for the day, but when it is first mentioned in the first go through time, Hermione hears the sound followed by Hagrid crying, which also happens in the second part of time, that the orders of the ministry have been fulfilled.
The bigger example of this is and the bigger example of the Time Travel Paradox is that Harry saves himself from the Dementors with his patronus. Harry of the first time sees himself, though he thinks it is father at the time before he passes out. Then when we get to future Harry when they are hiding, Harry is all excited that is going to see his dad until the crucial moment he remembers he looks like his dad and say himself.
So, basically with this, Future Harry doesn't think of saving himself until he realises what he actually saw himself saving himself.
I actually deleted that sentence because it didn't look right, but it is.

Does this mean that it was always going to happen?
Can you actually change the past? The past by definition has already happened, that is what makes it the past but if the past has already happened because for the time traveler it is their present, but it is also the present for the present.

This is the problem with time travel!
You can't change the past because the past is the past and by changing something are you actually changing something or just make your past what it was in the first place or essentially what is meant to be?
Is time travel just a massive deus ex machina?
That time travel itself is what set into motion what?
But time travel it creates this feedback loop and that if you've already changed the past, you haven't changed it at all because it is what it already is.
And if you do change the past, then you have changed the future, and if you change it back far enough, you could wipe out your entire life and if you don't exist in the future then how can you exist in the past?
Or is it the moment that you change a single act you start a different reality and that for every decision each outcome creates a different reality and if you change the reality can you go back?
Which creates far more trouble for the time travel that goes into the future.

Then again, with Back to the Future and how the future changes. It has the side effects of once Marty McFly gets back, the people he knows are not the same people he know. Sure they have the same names and look the same, but they are not the same people. Experience has a large influence on the type of people we are. People can change by the experiences they have had.
So, when the future does change, how are all the same people there?
There are ways of which things have changed, like his parents not getting together or having different kids because they got together at different times. What does that do to protagonist Marty?

Time Travel stories raise too many questions.
It is making my head hurt.
Much like a real feedback loop. Elysehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12618158608687332190noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5740377616516417447.post-8775097129609209632010-07-22T22:26:00.000+10:002010-07-22T22:26:35.936+10:00I'll Never Tell...Titles and names are the two weakest points of my ability as a writer.

Not that I am a great writer by any means, but I am really incapable of thinking up names and titles. When we used to have to do the creative writing part of English exams and have to write whatever the thing was, I'd try to either use first and second person or just look around the room and go on weird associations in my mind to get to names.

What that has to do with anything?

Well, I hate making up titles of blogs. I am just bad at it.

I'll Never Tell is the current song I'm listening. Yes, it is the Once More with Feeling Soundtrack and yes, it IS awesome. Thanks for asking.

So, I'm sure everyone here is thinking, "Why am I reading this again?" "Wow, Elyse, she is super insightful" or "What the fuck you mother fucker! YOU LIED! YOU SAID YOU'D NEVER WRITE AGAIN! How can we trust you again, you fucking motherfucker fucker!"

It might not have involved that much swearing, but I saw [Title of Show] last week and it features lots of swearing. The listening to the original cast recording hasn't helped with my swearing either.

That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

So yes, yes I did say that I wasn't going to write in here again and for a brief second that was an accurate statement.
I had planned to not write in here ever again.
However, I am not in the same place as I was last week. I'd go into that more, but you know, that is not a conversation for the blog.
If you'd like to have that conversation. I have never been a particularly hard person to find.
Just saying.

You know, I can't even work out who that is really directed to but I'm sure I'm going to get in trouble for it.

So, I'm back.
I'll come and go, but absolute statements are foolish to make and I try and avoid them as a rule, it just ends badly.

In honour of my glorious return to the blogger realm, I present this clip.
Listen to it. It's good.
I do a lot of thinking on them. Strange, strange thoughts.
If you've read my Twitter you might be aware of some of them.

So strange thoughts, trains and the new-ish iPhone have finally combined for some awesome blogging action. And that's my favourite kind of action. Hot.

Now with the train and lack of spell check there is much more chance to see my horrible spelling and that might be a little bit awesome.

I think I need to take awesome off my list of words because i'm overusing and need to move on from the awesome.

My train of thought derailed and I can't even remember vaguly what I was writing about.
It might have just been I'm on a train and am are trend whore with my iPhone.

Mmm trend whore.

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone
Elysehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12618158608687332190noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5740377616516417447.post-53127241996503407142010-07-08T23:45:00.000+10:002010-07-08T23:45:58.351+10:00Elyse Harshly Judges: The Glee FinaleI realised something as I started to write a blog post last week and as I watched the Glee finale and the episode of Masterchef that came before it.

Masterchef is a horrible, horrible show. Seriously, stop with the crying.
Though, those people are clearly uncomfortable hugging and it's like the producers are making them do the hugging and that makes me laugh.

That wasn't actually the point, but I realised that I judge television, and well most elements of popular culture just ridiculously harshly.
I like to think I don't do that to real people, but I probably do. I should do it more, I've dreamed of being the judgmental friend. I'd make an awesome judgmental friend. Does anyone need one?

As I sat and watched the Glee Finale that aired in Australia tonight, I started to think about the plot points that annoyed me and put them on Twitter.
There were a lot, so I thought I'd move them to a blog post.
I then recalled what watching TV does to me and decided to create a new segment of my blog for when things strike the mood.

The "Elyse Harshly Judges", I will take suggestions of things that are both bad and good, and I will watch and the judge... harshly.
It seemed like fun at the time.

Now, as a warning, it is in the title, HARSHLY judging. If you disagree, put it in the comments, if you agree put it in the comments.
Seriously, people can you start writing comments, I need some external validation here. I will reply to them.
That being said "Dude, that show was AWESOME" is not a disagreement and it might not necessarily be a view I disagree with, it's the belief that just because I am being mean and pointing out flaws means I can't be a fan and a statement upon which I call bullshit.

But to start off this, I have decided to go with the Glee Finale!
Huzzah! Glee!

And I don't think I need to add this but...

This is the second time I've seen the episode, the first time was a mysterious event several weeks ago that I can't recall anything about. The second time was this evening when it aired on Channel Ten.

I am trying to remember how it starts. Does it start with the flashback to Puck and Quinn?

Yeah, my memory has been off all day. I'm hoping I don't get delirious sick again.

I'm glad they did the flashback because they really did needed to show that it wasn't Puck taking advantage of a drunken Quinn.
And I'm just going to put it out there, that in the finale, I do love Quinn and Puck together. Especially at the point where they are standing there looking at the baby. I can buy it, I can completely buy Puck standing there and telling Quinn that he loves her more at that point, I buy it more that if at that point Quinn said she would keep the baby, he'd do anything in his power to try and do right by both of them and it's sweet. Plus, calling the baby Beth, with the song.
Puck as a character, is not a good guy, he is the bad guy and the massive douche, but in moments like that it kind of counter acts it.

So, Puck telling Quinn he loves her, that I love, that I am sold on.
Finn telling Rachel he loves her? No.
Shue telling Emma he loves her? No. No. No. No. No. NO no no no no. NO! NO! No no no NO!
16 noes? Really?

Ok, so the Puck and Quinn part is my favourite part of the episode because basically, I love a bad boy with a heart.
I am trying to think of another fictional example, but I've got nothing, so it might just be Puck.
Oh... Pacey started off as kind of a douche, but he made up for it.
I think Cordy is my Buffy equivalent.

Anyway.
So, my Shue and Emma?
So, Puck is MEANT to be a douche. Will is meant to be a good guy, but is kind of a douche.

My main issue with the whole Emma declaration of love is that she made it quite clear they were over at the begining of the episode and in a previous episode, but dude, she is seeing someone else. THAT WASN'T A SECRET!
Actually, I have multiple issues.
One is a general construct of film and television and that is the grabbing people to make them turn around and listen. I just really don't like that. That's just not cool. It is just such a controlling gesture and it is not something that is going to go places.

And the biggest issue I have, they are in the middle of the school hallway! THE SCHOOL HALLWAY! And are teachers!
Now, I'm old, so I now know way more teachers than students or at least more people studying to be teachers than I know high school students.
But pretty sure you can't go making out with people in the hallway in the middle of the school day.
I was actually going to ask someone but amazingly I had none of those people online.
Ok, there are actually very few people that I'd go "hey, man, you know how you are a teacher or gonna be a teacher, how do you think school policy would go with you having a public display of emotion followed by some making out in the middle of the hallway?" or quad, depending if you had hallways. My school didn't have hallways.

This is a follow on issue, there is so frequently yelling happening in the principal's office, that you can apparently hear while standing in the hallway... that is a major lane of movement for students.
What the hell show?

I can't sustain my disbelief about that.
I spent a lot of time in the office while I was at school, yes I was a trouble maker, surely this isn't news to any one and they tried to minimise the whole "look at me sitting in the office" thing as much as possible, so why go for the glass office show? Why?

I think I've read a fair bit about Sue Sylvester and the saving the Glee, I actually don't have a problem with it and basically it comes down to two things for me and that is to quote Kurt from the previous episode "she's one of us, and no one humiliates her except for us" and Sue's line that "as an educator" in the judges scene.
That for all the big talk and the heartlessness, which frankly is what makes Glee great, that she is an educator and on some level is in it for the kids and those are layers and I love them. Especially since she never told Will that she voted for New Directions or took the praise from her.

Horrible people who come through in the end work so much better for me than the sanctimonious bullshit from the good guys we are meant to barrack for.

As for the Finn and Rachel I love you, I seriously enjoy the fact she never says anything in return. I think I would have liked it better if there was something with Jesse.
I don't like that there were NO scenes with Jesse and Rachel in the finale.
I don't think Jesse is the villain of the piece. I can accept that he loved Rachel, and Rachel hurt him and he lashed out to hurt her back, maybe I bringing my own belief into that, but it works for me.
I don't see Jesse twirly his mustache or anything.

Oh, Idina, Idina, Idina, I love you, but there are so many aspects of your character that are strange.
You can still have a relationship with Rachel!
It's just different. You tried to find her, and then I think Shue fucked it up by telling her to basically stay away.
But dude, come on!
She is reaching out, don't cut her back like that.
It breaks my Idina loving heart right there.

My biggest issue with the Idina character was actually in last week's episode with the egging of Rachel by Vocal Adrenaline, Idina, that shit shouldn't fly with you!
GO TO TOWN ON THEM! Defend your daughter!

The adopting thing, not much of a problem, just the whole Rachel reaching out, do something with that. Just fucking hug her already!

I do talk about hugging an awful lot. I think you people should just hug me more.
People I know, not random strangers, unless you approach with caution.

Now the moment:
SONG CHOICE!

New Directions or the Glee Kids...
They went with a Journey Medley so we could get a nice line about how life has one real begining and one end and everything else is just middle.
Which is the whole journey part and thus Journey Medley.

Here it is, just because I care about you people.

I think Don't Stop Believing isn't one of their strongest choices.
Though, I really wish they'd do more stuff with harmonies and be more choir like and less solos with back up vocals.
In terms of starting from the back of the room thing "Don't Rain on My Parade" was a better candiate for it and a better song and well, starting at the back of the room is just inconsiderate to your audience.

You only do that with a chorus, so that EVERYONE can see what is happening. Two soloists in the crowd?
OF a two story theatre?
Yeah, fuck off. That's just inconsiderate and not working the crowd or the judges.

I don't like the Journey medley. They could have done better.
Just saying, don't like it.

I do enjoy Santana and Puck getting solos though in Don't Stop Believing but that key change is horrible, just atrocious.
It only goes up one step, but oh em gee... It just doesn't work and I can't even work out why, I just do not care much for it. Stop with the key change.

That and they look like they are having fun, which is was a big part of their schtick and seriously, they are having an awesome time.

Now onwards to Jesse St James and his Funky Bunch.

That isn't a choir. This one is completely just Jesse and backup singers.
Now, I'm not sure about Glee and Lip syncing, I'm going with yes because I've watched television before but will happily admit to being wrong but I just doubt it and I don't have an issue with it, it's only if they were performing live where I have that issue but whatever.

The lip syncing was just off, so it made it really obvious.
That and the choregraphy with the throwing around just annoys me, it's like hairography or we just cast Rob Mills to play Fieryo and need to do something to make up for his lack of actual talent so we'll make him run around a stage.

I don't think it should have won a choir competition because it wasn't a choir.
I was surprised they went with the full length of the song, but it was cut with Quinn so it made sense, I thought it was time cut, but apparently not.

I would have preferred shorter song and some kind of scene with Rachel and Jesse because come on! COME ON! You can't just go declaration of love from Finn and then starring kind of longingly at Jesse and then I get no emotional resolution for that. Bah!
Curses to you show! CURSES TO You!

That and Jonathon Groff just can not do that ending and it killed me for it, the American accent really came through and it is just not how it goes.

Too much screaming on the high notes too. Mr Groff, you are no Freddie Mercury.
VA, you are no rest of Queen.
There are ready made harmonies there! USE THEM! Embrace them!

Where did the crowd even get the glow sticks?

The non-competition stuff.

Ultimately, I felt this episode just wanted to make me cry.
For the record it didn't, on that same record, I have no issues admitting to things that make me cry: Montages to Sarah McLachlan (Becoming Part 2, Toy Story 2), the Dawson's Creek Finale, A League of Their Own, Lexi, Cordy's farewell scene in You're Welcome, Toy Story 3.

They tried so hard and threw everything there, but alas, show, you tried too hard and I saw what you were doing.

I really hope that it is Burt Hummel that taught Finn what it meant to be a man, because I think Shue is kind of douche (especially to Emma), where as Burt is just all kinds of awesome... Especially to Kurt and well, to Finn as well.

So that's the Glee kids singing to Shue... While Sue looks on!
That's just straight song, obviously.

I was mainly excited that Other Asian and Shaft got lines!

Overall, it didn't blow me away.
Too much going on and not enough resolved.
The song choices were not the greatest, but I did like that the judges portraying themselves were arseholes. That is a little bit awesome right there.

My favourite thing to happen was the fact they didn't win, basically, in reality, they wouldn't have. I know it's boring TV, but they would have spent weeks, if not months rehearsing their set and getting it perfect and mastering.
However, Television makes it hard because no one wants to see that, but since I'm taking it into consideration.

I don't think I judged harshly enough.
I'll work on it.Elysehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12618158608687332190noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5740377616516417447.post-57057347066863621182010-07-08T01:28:00.000+10:002010-07-08T01:28:03.705+10:00Inadvertently ask Elyse- the really late editionWow, my spelling is atrocious. Or as spell check is advising my spelling is also atrocious- attractions and ferocious.
You know it spell check, you know it.

One day I would write something and have it untempered by spell check but I reached my shame quota yesterday when I took my glasses to get fixed and was judged harshly by how ferociously dirty they were and now I'm just hoping they don't appear on Miss Addict's Twitter feed.

The 2nd of July was last week, which means I'm about a week late with my Inadvertently Ask Elyse section, which was called something completely different last month, due to the terrible spelling created by Elyse.

Now for those who don't know, what Inadvertently Ask Elyse is, it is where I find the searches from Google that have lead people to this very blog, and then answer them as if they were actually asking the question.

1. Car Hugs

This would be a hug, in a car.
It's not for the amateur hugger.

Now the first question, is this a legimite hug or do you want to go into the canoodling territory?

When I discussed this with the aforementioned Miss Addict, whose internet pseudonym is really annoying to type, she informed me that I had thought about this too much....
Oh that wasn't relevant, she also mentioned that it also depends if clothes are on or off, but you know, I think that is delving very far away from the hugging part.

In terms of canoodling, go with both parties in the backseat, because otherwise that shit gets uncomfortable really quickly.

So, with hugs...
First, what kind of hug?
Because the comforting hug because someone in the car is having an emotional breakdown, very difficult.
Especially, if the person having the breakdown is the driver.
Now, if YOU do feel a need to hug the Crying Driver, make sure the car is in a stationary position, so no one dies. This is an important factor. No death is good, just as a rule.

As a rule, the car is not a good place for the really long hug, if you want to go for that long, kind of awkward for the other people in car kind of hug, get out of the fucking car and hug OUTSIDE the car. Preferably far from the car, so the others in the car talk about how weird a situation that was.
That's just polite.

Ok, so, you are saying your farewells to the other four people in the car.
Since there are four people in the car, and let's just assume that as hugger you are in the back, so, the person in the middle seat is going to be the easiest to hug and it will also be the least awkward.
I'm talking physical position, I'm not sure what kind of emotional attachment there is to that person, who knows, it could be the person you are madly in love with, that everyone knows in an open secret kind of way, who slept with your sister, bestie and boyf last week... Because nothing is helping THAT awkward. There is also a KT FML in there.

Now, of the awkward person in the middle, unless you are sitting in their lap, the other side just ain't getting hugged.

To hug the person in front of you, you are hugging the seat as well, be careful of the neck in that, because there can be choking and while some people are into that kind of thing, they might not like it at that point in time.
Other people may freak out and then there will be tears and a shouting match and Oh em gee, how awkward do you want this car trip to be?

Then there is the other person in the front, basically you go through the space in the middle and there is some weird stretching and turning. Not reccommended for people with bad backs and who will whinge about the pain.

There is also the "Drive Thru" Car Hug, which is through the window. This really only works with kind of little people/small children.

Basically, there are many factors to a car hug, you need to find which one works best for you in terms of the situation, the car and the people you'll be hugging.

2. Collegehumor Literal Songs

While I'm going to enjoy the fact that you got here by searching for an ACTUAL website.

Though, all of that being said, I didn't go to College and thus, don't have that kind of humour.
It saddens me too.

It probably saddens me all the more.

3. One Sided Hug- Good or Bad

That's a pretty big question.
Now, there are some variables?

The most important being- Do you feel that front hugging is sinning and needs to be avoided at all times?
Because that would mean "bad", unless you are a rebel.

Some examples of bad times to go for the side hug:

That right there is a please hug me and not on the side for I can drop this Fake Hyde Park Fountain at any stage as I mock this person at my feet.

Celebrate my victory with a proper hug!

Huzzah!

Yeah, I DO wish I were Canadian, is it obvious?

And yes, that was a poor example, but I realised I was going to use a photo with another person and without permission and felt bad, so I should be hugging that giant bear...

So side hugs, they are good or bad depending on the situation.

You should always approach with caution and use your best judgment.

4. The Ramblings of Elyse

That's where I ramble and someone can't find the direct link...
Or needs to follow me on twitter...

5. What's the Equivalent of a Hug?

According to Pushing Daisies it is the emotional Hemlich. Someone puts your arms around you and give you a squeeze and all your fear and anxiety come out your mouth in a big wet wad and you can breathe again.

A hug's a hug man.
Though, if we look towards our Christian Side Hugging friends, as I often do, then hug is just euphemism for sex.
So, it really depends what kind of hug you want. The sexual hug, the side hug, the car hug, the hug with the screaming that you haven;t seen someone for ages (it's a personal favourite of mine), the man hug, the hug with the unwillingly participant, the awkward hug, the sandwich hug.

I had a hug with my Scooby Gang once. That was interesting coz it was 4 people, and I think some people were sitting down at a table and one person ran and joined in from the other side because they felt left out.
It was a touching moment.

But basically, question asker, a hug is a hug.
Go with the dictionary meaning: squeeze someone tightly in one's arms to typically express affection.

Seriously, hugs and literal songs...
You'd think it was the only things I ever wrote about...

Now loyal readers, I am taking you in my arms to squeeze to express my affection.

til next time!

This explains why I have a regular segment about it.

The thing with my search terms, it is either about hugs or about literal songs.
I didn't think my literal song post was that spectacular but it ends up with the most consistent hits.

However, the thing about the hugs?
What IS with that?

At what point should I be worried about this hug thing?
Are some kind of Christians gonna come after me when they notice that my hugs aren't appropriate?
Are some random people going to be all like "You're that girl that rants angrily about Spike and talks about hugs a lot" and then go to hug me.

Dear Fandom,

DON'T RANDOMLY HUG ME!!
If you need to approach me, do so with slow steady movements as not to startle me and cause injury.
At work, I kind of care about the news, when I have time to myself, not so much.

The work thing is just why there is a delay in posting this and when I found the article. So I found this article ages ago and for those who refuse to click links. Hi Adam!

Does he actually read this?
Either way, Hi Adam!

Oh right, so for those who refuse to click links, here is the summary, some dude got drunk and sent Steve Jobs his review of the iPad.
And really, who hasn't done that?

Just me than?
Well, this is awkward.
I'm working on a scale of how awkward things are. I have a REALLY good one, but I'm pretty sure it is on my list of things I'm not meant to know about and by "not meant to know". That isn't that much of a loaded statement, right?
Not the Scooby Gang, right? Right.

So, moving on...

The Drunken Critic, which is something I wanted to steal until I googled it and it apparently it already exists and then I cried a little bit.
Ok, I'm on quite a bunch of tangents right now.

Ok, the Drunken Critic sent Steve Jobs an email and was all like but how can the iPad be revelotionary when it restricts a whole bunch of content, revolutions are all about freedom!

Which is a nice little quote, I don't think it is something I can really agree with.
I don't think it is necessarily about freedom, except maybe in terms of overthrowing a oppressor but in the two revolutions I mainly know about, which are the French and Russian, while both monarchs were overthrown, it didn't lead to this great free land.

There are actually two Russian revolutions in 1917, one which lead to a democratic-eque government, which last a couple of months before another revolution and the Bolsheviks took over and Russia became the USSR.
The USSR isn't really known for its freedom.

I just realised that is two posts in a row that I have mentioned something about Russian history.
I did a whole bunch of Russian History at school and it haunts me still.
Oh, Trotsky, the greatest Jew since Christ... I don't think I'll ever forget that. EVER.

So, I think the Drunken Critic wants to believe in liberty, equality and fraternity or for some French Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité. Which rock on son, rock on!
Just because that is the motto of the French Revolution, it doesn't make it real for all revolutions.

Now, considering that we use the revolution else where in life and not regarding the masses deciding to storm the Bastile... VIVA LA FRANCE!
Should I get my beret out?

But revolutions... It has something to do with a car, the revs thing, I don't know what it means.
And in old school records, RPM! Revolutions per minute.
It basically means to turn around, thank you, Wikipedia.

So yeah, Drunk Critic, I want to tell you to shut for being wrong, but considering you are less of a tool than Steve Jobs, you don't get my wrath.

Oh, Steve Jobs... Steve, Steve, Steve...

You're response?

"Yep, freedom from programs that steal your private data, Freedom from programs that trash your battery. Freedom from porn."

There's more, it's published here.

I just want to go with the original reponse.

But do you people ACTUALLY know what freedom is?

Freedom is mostly associated with the political ideal, that everyone is free to make their own decisions.
But it is basically the unrestricted use of something.

Adding or taking away something that makes an aspect of it restricted, is restricting the freedom of use.
There is no arguement to that.
Freedom from stealing private data or freedom from porn, isn't freedom. Don't let them name fool you.
It's not because it takes away that choice that damn it, I might just want to watch some porn on my iPad.

Why do I get the strange feeling that my saying that is going to be quoted often?

It's the attitude of "what about the children? Won't someone think of the children?" that really pisses me off.
My issue with the Steve Jobs comment is basically the same as my issue with the internet censorship blacklist.

It's the same argument, the what about the children. Well, perhaps someone should actually be monitoring what their kids are doing on the computer and do stuff that way instead of making the entire Australian population suffer.

But Steve Jobs freedom from porn is bullshit, who is giving their kids free reign of their iPads to start off with because that is the bigger problem here.

If you want to restrict flash content on your devices, sure, that's cool, just don't claim it has anything to do with freedom because it doesn't. That isn't freedom.

But seriously, someone think of the children! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

Oh, France, I love you and your motto, but I really don't think liberty, equality or fraternity are actually possible people are just fucked.
However, that's never a reason to stop it from being the ideal.

So, we are 8 days from Bastille Day...
Thus, Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité.

FROMAGE! Elysehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12618158608687332190noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5740377616516417447.post-41269374812465670892010-07-05T23:29:00.001+10:002010-07-05T23:35:13.396+10:00My legacy to the world...Ok, as a disclaimer, I actually wrote this on the 3rd of June. I just haven't posted it til now, but since I kind of make reference to it in this blog, I felt I should actually post it.
Parts of it are so much less important now, I know. Which is why there is this disclaimer.

Something happened a couple of weeks that has kind of sent a whole bunch of things into a tailspin.

Which you know, kind of sucks. That one event can just massively impact everything else and it sucks even more because it has overall just made me feel ridiculously pathetic.

Yeah, I'm being deliberately vague. That is on purpose due to the feeling ridiculously pathetic.

But I was thinking about WHY it bothers me so much.
Well, it depends on which angle I look at it. There is the chance that I was fucked over and injustice and all that bullshit. Or you know, lack of respect and trust in me, which I have spent years trying to pretend that it doesn't matter.

The real thing is. I want to be remembered. I want to be able to have some kind of impact to an organisation that I spent years at.
And how do we refer to the passing of time? "Whose weekend was it that year?"
It's not about years or passing of time, but by the names of people.

I leave and it all just fades away.
I fade away.

I realise I do the same thing at work. I'm on the quest for some kind of legacy, some kind of proof that I was there.
That I actually had an impact on something.
Anything.

I think this is something I have a skewed view on. I'm not denying that, but maybe I read through Harry Potter one too many times.
The whole "I remember that name from having to clean the trophies" aspect or the fact at work, I know the names and roles of so many people I've never met because I've either seen them on the show or have seen their names on briefs.
But, I don't have that.

In Stalin's USSR, people would be executed and then wiped out of records. Photos would be doctored, reports destroyed. It would be as those people never existed and that was exactly the point. What do you mean there was someone who disagreed with me?
What proof do you have?
None. Because I destroyed it.

And there is always need to prove it. If you can't prove it. It didn't happen.
If you CAN'T prove it, than it can't exist.

I can prove I existed. I have paperwork and everything. Pretty sure

Maybe I've over thought this, maybe I just can't see what the actual story is and what happens, and I probably shouldn't care as much as I do.
But I do.Elysehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12618158608687332190noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5740377616516417447.post-89821176817845133752010-07-05T23:25:00.000+10:002010-07-05T23:25:31.882+10:00Wicked...The post that NO ONE has been waiting for!
Well, I am super excited to write it, so awesome!

Last night I saw Wicked. It was the third time I have seen it, I first time was in New York (and NO, not with Idina... I've said that a lot recently. I wish it was Idina), and then last year in Sydney.

You can read all about what I thought about the New York production here. That is actually a good post about my fleeing the country since it features the link to my quote in the New York Post.

I just reread that post, I was nowhere near as harsh as what I'm about to be. Then again, I think the talent pool of musical actors in New York is much wider. Or I was just super excited to be in New York, which just as likely.

Now, as a precursor to this. I love Wicked. It is one of my favourite musicals.
I'm very much of the "with all it's faults, I love it still" school of thought.
I am not blinded by the awesome and the lights, so if you are going to come in with a "oh noes! Wicked is awesome, how dare you say these horrible things"
Then I laugh a little bit because I can easily say it because I'm not deaf!

So, if you are one of those fanboys who are gonna throw stuff at me for being "mean" or whatever, pretend like I care, since your fanboy status probably has nothing on me.

Ok, I realised something was strange when I started writing.
I didn't have the right soundtrack to my writing happening, but that's now been rectified, hello Idina, I've missed you so.

Last night, the ever present KT and I went on a hot date of pancakes and Wicked.
I am pretty sure I should not word it like that on here.
The pancakes WERE delicious, thanks for asking!

KT was also sick and delirious and almost killed children on the train. It was fun!
The KT part is important part of the story, because it features me getting slapped a lot.

The thing I was most excited about in seeing Wicked this time was the complete and utter lack of Millsy as Fiyero. He is just bad. So bad.
The understudy who was on last night was good, much better.
He managed to get the high notes in As Long As Your Mine. That makes him a keeper in my eyes.
The tight pants at the begining... Well, that's a different issue, he looked much better when he got some looser pants on.

Ok, I just went on a Idina YouTube fest. I'm sorry world.
But that's part of my problem.
I will always compare whoever plays Elaphba and Glinda to Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenowith, and it is is easy to compare to the Original Broadway Cast Recording, because that's what I hear so much, but that's not what I compare it to.
Because I am completely aware of the things that you can do in the recording process, the mixing, the mastering. There is LOTS you can do.
"Ok, Idina, that was great, but just want you to do that last chorus of Defying Gravity again to overdub it. Awesome".
To destroy the magic, that's what happens. I have a further post I want to make about this.

Thus, comparing anything live to a recording is stupid. Yes, I said. You simply can't do it. Unless it is a live recording, but that's a different kettle of fish.

But YouTube? YouTube is a whole nother ballgame. YouTube that is illegally taken, hello copyright, didn't see you there!
Which generally has crappy audio, and you know it's live, and I'm not going to lie, I've watched A LOT of those of Idina and Cheno, so that's the live performance and thus my standard.

And, well, it's Idina and it's Cheno!

As we walked into the theatre KT was all like "I think I like this Glinda more than Cheno" and for the record, yes, Cheno IS how we say it. I was completely devestated.
How could I know someone that would make such outrageous statements about the awesomeness that is Cheno?
Seriously, Cheno should beat you to death with her Tony!

Sorry, where was I?

Now, something you may not know about me is that I enjoy making sarcastic commentary. I know it is a shocking, shocking revelation but you know, sarcastic commentary.

Yes, I will be on that special level of hell for people who talk in the theatre.

Now, KT has threatened to slap me A LOT. Some times I feel if she hasn't threatened to slap me once every time I see here I am not doing my duty as a friend.
She has never carried through with this threat, I found out the reasoning is because I don't like sudden movement and her going to slap me is enough to freak me out.

Yeah, this isn't the Wicked standard though, since I got slapped a fair bit. She didn't care much for my commentary and if anyone is wondering, no, no one did try and kill me.

I stopped writing for some reason and now I don't really remember my issues that I had, but considering that we bitched all throughout intermission and for the train trip home.

Dammit! Why did I stop writing earlier?

I remember there was an issue with some weird harmonies and them sounding off key, well, probably true, but in Defying Gravity, there are some weird harmonies.
It's just strange.

I could try and analyse it with my mad musical skillz, but I can't be bothered.
But there are just some harmonies that aren't the most consonance of a note combination and just say if you are having an off night than it just sounds bad.

My remembering of details is fuzzing.
So in conclusion: I'm a harsh, harsh judge.
I watch too many things on YouTube.
I'm a massive, massive fangirl.

Good times.

Enjoy!Elysehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12618158608687332190noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5740377616516417447.post-52443400282301358452010-07-05T23:05:00.000+10:002010-07-05T23:05:16.827+10:00The Hard TruthsI owe you guys my Inadvertly Ask Elyse post that was due on Friday, yes, the 2nd of the Month is when I do that, I was just preoccupied this time.

I've had a really bad couple of weeks. In many ways I have more or less given up on many things. I actually have a series of things I just can't do when things get bad.

Read, play guitar and write. The reading is long, long gone, the guitar I do because I have to and not often enough.
The sign is actually how long the nails on my left hand are. Just one of those things that only I notice, but you know putting it out there.

That is pretty much excuse for my lack of rambling lately.

But I have something I need to write, that I don't know if I'll post on here or if I'll even write it. I'm not sure it even really matters any more.

The thing that I have learnt, not even recently, just something that was emphasised for me about two weeks ago.

No one is irreplaceable.

No one.

Everyone can be replaced.

It's not the same, no it will never be the same, obviously, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

That little niche thing you have happening at the moment?
Nope, that can be replaced.

I used to think in my job that they can't get rid of me because I'm the only person that knows how to do the finance stuff.
Well, that's now. Those kind of things can be taught, because they were taught to me and I'll probably have to show someone else to do it eventually.
That's just how it goes, that is how it HAS to go. You are replaceable because things HAVE to change. If things stay the same, things get fucked up.

Life is just about change and dealing with that change.

That's how it goes.
You are dealt your hand, one card is discarded and another card is added to your hand. If you try and go no, I'm not playing that, then you aren't playing the game and you are sitting there with a deck of cards doing nothing and getting no where.

I don't know if I ever thought I was actually irreplaceable.
I have always seemed to be in transient, I don't expect things to stay for very long that way.
In terms of people, I don't expect people to hang around very long and will generally help them with that.
The thing is that once they are gone, someone will take their place and it's not the same, but there is that role being replaced.
And really, no one wants to hear that.

I can think of an actual example of this, but I'm not going to write it down because I think I'll get in trouble for it.
It's not the same, but at least in some ways, it is a replacement.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, nor is it a good thing. The fact someone had to leave, not cool, but someone new came along, that's cool.

Why is this important?
Because right now, right now I feel like Faith in This Year's Girl.
Yeah, it is a Buffy reference.
Which is funny because I think it is a Buffy reference that is making a reference to the Little Match Girl.
That's what is happening to me.
And Facebook is taunting me with it. I keep seeing the photos, the statuses, the little comments from something I was meant to be at. But instead, I was at home, with the internet as my window to look in.

I got to see who replaced me. I got to see all of that.

I'm letting it taunt me. Yeah, I'm letting it win.
But I was never that good at the fight.

I want to be remembered.
Not necessarily as a person that changed lives or did something amazing, I just want to be remembered. That I was there. That for at least a small part, that I meant something and that had an impact.
That it was real. That I actually mattered and made a contribution for that small window. That there is some tangible thing.

I wrote something about that a while ago, I don't think I posted it.

I'd like to belong somewhere.
Anywhere.
But I won't.
Even in the group that was the haven for the outsiders, I was exactly that, so much so that in an organisation that claimed that everyone was accepted, there was that "Except Elyse" clause.

Yeah, I'm sorry that there is less with the funny in this.
I have to work some stuff out and I'm not exactly sure what do with all of that, so right now, I'm not fun to be around, so my apologies.

I'll think of some awesome things soon to write about.

I think I have a "Why Glee's Version of Defying Gravity is Terrible?" in the works. I really hope someone is getting worked up in the rebuttal about that just by the title!
Elyse... She is going to diss Glee! That Bitch! Oh, you better believe it. I think I'm gonna take some cheap shots at Kurt too. Who is excited about that?
Oh, and "Wow, this band is terrible live- How CD production is destroying expectations of live music" that I think I ranted about recently in real life, but haven't written anything.

I'll also check my drafts.

As always, I do take requests.
Please don't make me make a video with my singing. I've done enough of that and it never ends well for the internet.Elysehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12618158608687332190noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5740377616516417447.post-13473988775793242192010-06-26T00:22:00.000+10:002010-06-26T00:22:39.305+10:00Checking in...It's been a while, but yes, yes I am alive.

I just have no motivation to write.
I can point you to the people to thank about that.

Not expecting it to change soon.

Sorry for those who enjoyed this blog.
You're welcome to those who are enjoying my demise.
Today is the 2nd of June!

Do you know what that means?

IT IS INADVERTENTLY ASK ELYSE blog post!

This is my favourite post of the month! I have no idea what anyone else thinks but since I enjoy writing it. Suck it up princesses. I assume there is more than one reader....

Oh well...

Just a recap of what it means to inadvertently ask Elyse, yeah, I've totally just changed the name of this segment, but whatever, formally Helping Out My Googlers...

What this is, is that I go through what people have searched on Google to end up in my little corner of the interwebz and then I answer the question for them.

I know, it's a kindness that I feel I should offer.

1. Are front hugs bad?

Yes, you are a sinner.

Unless you are a rabbi or a priest, which makes it ok.

OR you are married to the person you are fronting hugging.

OR are a massive whore.

2. Facebook unfriending glitch

Well, it all depends if you were the unfriender or the unfriendee.

Either way, that's a good excuse for defriending guilt.

No, man, it's not me, it was a facebook glitch! Totally, some blog by Elyse told me.

And that's how you know it's true. Coz I told you.

Oh, you didn't know it was a website?

Well, it is.
It is a website where people write in short stories of which the only response can be "Fuck my life" or in the more work appropriate environment "FML". Just for the record, I clearly am not a work appropriate environment.
Except maybe my work...

That's not the point, so I love the FML website, it makes me laugh heartily sometimes. I prefer the ones where the person who wrote it so totally deserved the outcome.
Yeah, this makes me a horrible person, but you know what, so are so many other people.
This is why they get submitted so some random person on the other side of the world can laugh at their misfortune.

I've written about this before... I just would need to find it and I have capped internet. FML.

Anyway, then suddenly the FML phenomena left the confines of the website and suddenly people put it in their Facebook status... And then the ultimate disgrace. Say it in real life.
I have this thing against people who say internet acronyms in the real world. You know those people who "lol"... you know we have a thing for that in the real life. It's called laughing... OUT LOUD, you motherfucker.
Sorry, I do have anger about this.
Those people need to be slapped and then people should lol about it... by laughing out loud.

So, FML... I heard people use it on the train, Miss Addict (enjoy your shameless plug! And I got the link right first go... Take that! ) also heard it used and tweeted it.

It is not something that I can stand for.
Especially with some of the things that people FML at.

"Today, I had an exam. FML." You want to get an education, these things require exams. You don't want exams, drop out of uni and get a job. "Today, my boss wanted me to actually work. FML",

These people need to harden up, princesses. These are not things that require your life being fucked.
I had 6 exams in three days at the end of last semester. Did I make a Facebook status about it?
Did I say FML about it at all?
No, I accepted that as part of the insanity that is my degree, that I get crazy shit like 6 exams in three days. I sucked it up, did my fucking exams and moved on my life.
Was it hard?
You bet, but whinging is not going to change a thing.

I understand that right now I'm bitching about it, so I am aware of the hyprociy, so it makes me feel better.

But this brings me to my point.
I've decided to fight back and each time that I read on someone's Facebook FML, I will then create a scenario that is so much epically worse, that you will appriecate the challenge that life has thrown at you, over come it and go, no life... FUCK YOU.

So, that is my pledge. That being said, I have some standards, somethings I simply can not be a smartarse about. I have examples, but don't really want to use them.
As a ranter, if it happens on Twitter, I'll direct you here.

In honour of what I have dubbed the "KT System" since I've done it more than once in her Facebook statuses. Statuii?

Today. Today, I fight back. Take THAT, internet!Elysehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12618158608687332190noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5740377616516417447.post-63885641970202056842010-05-27T23:26:00.000+10:002010-05-27T23:26:42.886+10:00The numbers gameYes, this is my third post for the night.

This is the first post I've actually started writing tonight.

It's my 41st post of the year and the 13th post of May.

These numbers only mean something to me.
I've written more this month than I wrote in 2008 and one would think I would have gone hardcore with my writing when I first started the blog.
Come to think of it, I can't even remember the why I started the blog.

Damn, can't even go to my regular scapegoat of Teen Angst.
Teen angst, that was a while ago...

So far in 2010, I have written more than I did in 2009, give me another post and it will be equal with '09 and '08 combined.
May, 2010 is the one I have written the most posts for.
Good times.

These are interesting numbers.
They fascinate me, but I'm the one that likes the numbers and I look for patterns.
My blog writing pattern is lots at the begining of the month and then stop.
Then again, I have lots of drafts at the moment, most of which won't get published since they are just justifications of stupid behaviour and justifications are bullshit and will annoy me so much more if I publish them.
So, sorry world. In the vault...
Unless you hack my account...

Which, don't.

Thus, numbers, lots of numbers.

I could do a word count, but I think it will make the internet explode.
It would be high, let's just leave it at that.

I lost track of what I was writing about some time ago...
I think I need to find some topics.
Give me some topics!
Seriously, I'll write about whatever!

Aren't you curious to find out what I'd do with a serious world issue?

That being said, I am looking forward to the 2nd of June when I write my favourite segment ever!
That's right... The June edition of the Inadvertly Ask Elyse!
I have some good ones.

I think I have an obsession with hugging...
But it will be exciting!

Seriously need to make that video.
Does anyone want to be in my video about hugging?

I had to find a book that I planned to give to a friend of mine, I had originally planned to buy it from the internet but discovered I could indeed buy it in Australia. No, that was wrong.

I discovered this when I walked into a bookshop and couldn't see it on the shelf so asked the very stupid question of "Hi, I'm looking for a book".

See, I know it's a stupid question, I was told afterwards that it's only when I don't follow it up with another statement about what book and the person serving me is completely immune to it. Due to the frequency that people do it.

The thing that made this story completely gold is well, the person serving me was hilarious and while I'm sure she thought I was a nutcase, she was amused by it rather than being scared.
I ask stupid questions, but I'm self aware of it.

The gold part of the story, I was looking for a book called "Pirate's Guide to Parenting", while wearing my "To Err is to Human, to Arr is to Pirate".

So, what did I wear while book shopping?
I don't have a photo...
I'm going to have to get a photo, aren't I?

Well, I won't because I'm lazy and in bed and lazy.
So loyal readers, I owe you one.Elysehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12618158608687332190noreply@blogger.com1
