A topic at the request of Snix, here it is....


I saw it once.

It was a cold Saturday night. I was at home.

Actually, I don't remember if it was cold, I just remember it was a Saturday night and I was bored watching TV.  It was when it had first been released or just doing the rounds.

As a musical fan, I'm a fan of musicals and thus enjoying watching them. I had heard things about this new phenomenon crushing the tweens with dance and thought "A musical? How refreshingly awesome..."

I checked with my Musical Peeps about the standards of it compared to actually good musicals. One said it was good and that I'd love it, the other said it what shit and to run, RUN AWAY!

I was torn, they are my two most trustworthy sources and who was I to believe?

But I decided to not just take the words of advice from my most trust allies and to go into the abyss and watch.

Oh, I watched.

It was atrocious.
To this day the one thing that I can not get over is the enemies of Zac Efron and Vanessa whatever her last name is, I could look it up and ruin my repuation as an unworthy news source but I'm too lazy for that. Oh wait... Vanessa Hudgens. Thank you for being in many Disney scandals and posing topless on the internet a lot to feature in trashy mags so I can eventually remember your name.

Oh.. Character names... Troy and Gabriella? Is now!

Well, their enemies.
They are brother and sister. BROTHER AND SISTER!
Now, I'm sure many people are thinking that I should get over the fact that people on television do sometimes have siblings. Not that often, but some times they do and I should move on.

Normally I'd agree but the point of the musical and why the Brother and Sister have something against Troy and Gabriella is that they are going for the leads in the school musical.

I'm someone that knows a lot about musicals. Your typical musical, especially your typical musical that is going to be performed by a high school is the quintessial love story. Boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love, something horrible happens meaning they can't be together in the end and then they get together at the end, everyone lives happily ever after.
That's how it goes.


Your leads in a musical?
They play that boy and girl.

People you don't want playing the leads in the musical... A BROTHER AND SISTER!!
That is wrong and disturbing and just no.

I could sustain my disbelief no longer after that.
Seriously?
What the hell?

ESPECIALLY, ESPICALLY since how much they play the we are the leads in the musical together and when we sing we make beautiful together that we will continue off stage and off screen as not to offend any parents, but man, those front hugs will be hot.
To play that card continually and then throw the fact the people rthat used to be in those roles are siblings?
Yeah, that is not right.

When it comes to my opinion of High School Musical my opinion is so clouded due to that, that I don't remember most of it.

As a result of this most of my opinion then comes to the aftermath and consequences... Which one side I kind of enjoy because if it means that there is a surge of popularity in musicals that means that in Sydney it won't be one musical every couple of months, but more than one?
Like West Side Story and Wicked both showing in July!
That is something I can get behind.
Though, that is far more likely to do with the absolute steam rolling of everything that Wicked is doing.

I'm all for more musicals.

Did you know they made a stage version of HSM?
A STAGE VERSION!
Do you know with that stage version they are doing amateur versions of it?
That is disturbing.

At uni the other day I saw a flyer for an amateur version of it in like Chatswood or somewhere and I'm not going to lie, part of my musical loving heart died a little.

The rant that goes with this is the Jukebox musical. I hate them as well, I'm looking at you Mama Mia! Jersey Boys! The Wedding Singer! Shout! The Dusty Springfield Story.
I find these an afront to musical theatre.

The Wedding Singer in particular, if only because they killed my favourite joke from the movie in there. They tried but they obviously couldn't get the rights to use the Culture Club's Do You Really Want to Hurt me.
But still...

Write your own fricken musicals! Don't just use songs that are already a commerical success and write a dodgy story to make them work because it doesn't and I don't care for it.


But back to High School Musical.
I think they tried to go with some ironic kind of humour with "musicals aren't cool and I'll tell you why- through song!" thing. I think it's humour. I'm really hoping it was because other wise, those writers are fucked and need to be taken out and shot.

Now, the only song I remember was I think the big dance number which I've conveniently stolen from YouTube to destroy your ears, eyes, heart and soul...



That is the only song I can remember and it informs me that I should follow the rules and stick to the status quo. Well, the status is not quo and fuck you High School Musical for contributing your filth to the pop culture vernacular and making people confirm to what are the apparent ideals of high school.


Ok, maybe it hasn't hit the pop culture, but this is going to be like the Grease of the next generation or atleast that's what they were going for.
This is going to be involved in shaping the youngin's pop culture and it makes me sad because Grease?
Grease is hilarious.

I at least knew Grease was taking the piss. I'm pretty sure HSM is not.

Even though I like to forget High School Musical ever plagued the world, I do like the guy that bakes.

I started this month on fire.

It was a serious problem...

That was a bad joke.

Now, anyway, I did start this month with thousands of blog posts and a dream to end April with more posts than any other month... or at least more posts than 2008.
I did that, or I think I did, I don't think 2008 had all that many posts to begin with but that's not the point.

Anyway, and then so I was on fire until time crept up with me and took me out and then mocked me with sickness.
Please refer to the vlog of delirium, which has been viewed as "Hilarious", I just wrote Elyse there, so you know Elyse and Hilarious totally interchangeable.
Tell your friends "Oh em gee... You are so totally Elyse". Don't say that to me though, because I'll look at you strangely and then ask if you are high because I am Elyse. What up?
Though, yeah, so I've slowed down due to the sickness and breakdown that appeared in the consequence of the sickness and exams. Yeah, I've had 7 exams in the past three days and needed to actually study.

Study takes time.
I really forgot how much time study takes.
That's a lie... I've never studied before, yeah, time consuming!


So, I'm currently at work... working hard as it was.
I have some plans for some blog posts in the future.

I can list them as:

If anyone is curious, my invoice for this week is dated the "30rd of April". Nice.

I was just talking to the very infamous Mar(t)y McFly, who apparently is thinking about getting a blog, so peer pressure her for that so I can link her.

I've been told that I talk about Buffy too much and as someone who isn't interested in Buffy, which I plan to fix at some stage, but I shouldn't put that on the internet.

This request comes from something I've been twittering about a lot.

As I'm sure I've mentioned, I recently started degree v2.0- this time it's personal and I mentioned many, many posts ago was that I had orientation first. Funny that.

At orientation, I saw this guy and girl canoodling in the room where the audio kids had assembled and I thought "A classroom full of people is not really a place to canoodle" and then promptly forgot about it until last week.

When, I was sitting in my Audio Tech lecture and saw the dude sitting next to his girlf.

And now I know that the audio tech lecture? Hot place for a date!

Now, Audio Tech... Does this sound like an interesting subject, readers?
It is, but I'm an Audio Student!
This subject is about the theory of sound, it's all physics and what not.

The other thing to remember is that my place of learning is in the middle of the City. THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY!
The lecture goes for two hours.

Come on Girlf! You could wander around the city for two hours or maybe sit down, grab a coffee, read a book or maybe, the best couple time is sitting next to your boyf as he pays attention and takes not. Yeah, sweet hot learning love right there.

Now, I thought maybe she was leaving the country or I don't know, I just thought it was weird she was in the lecture.

But no, it got worse.
That was a lecture, it's a small class but there is not interacting.

The next class was a tute. It was a Digi Tech tute, which is sitting and playing on computers to create a mix. This class you don't talk to anyone, you can actually go the entire hour and not to talk to anyone, because it's just the computer and the headphones.
There's no interaction.

Nope. The Girlf was there.
Even better couple time, just sitting there watching the boyf work on his mix. It's a mixing project too, there's no time to talk to anyone otherwise, boom! FAIL!
Well, not that dramatic, but there are only 4 one hour sessions to work on it.

I just can't get over it.
Why would you go to another person's lectures? I hardly want to go to them and I'm doing the subject.
I'm just lazy that way.

It's not like you can talk, at best you can whisper rudely and quite possibly end up with an injury caused by a pen or a chair or hold hands and awkwardly type notes with one hand.

I just don't get the point!
It's called a book! INVEST IN IT!
If not a book, maybe some music, or a fucking nap!

That was last week, I had forgotten about this, until today when I was late to my class, refer to the lazy thing, and kind of running past the place that smells like coffee that I can't stay too long otherwise bad things happen. I don't like the smell of coffee, it makes me nauseous, and there was the dude... with his Girlf.

The most interesting thing to note, this dude shares a lot of the same classes with me... His name is Andy, which I didn't think was fair to use, since I don't know his girlf's name.
Oh... right that point, so in the Place of Coffee at uni, there I saw Andy and his Girlf...
I was late to class and he was just loitering with his girlf?

What the hell?

I guess it is more couple-y time then the middle of a lecture, but why would you miss a tute when you are clearly there for it to hang out with your girlf?

And then she was in the Lecture again.

I don't remember about the digi tech tute, since I was working on my mix and every much in my own little world.

Then it comes down to who brings their significant other to their place of learning?
IN THEIR PLACE OF LEARNING?
Like lectures and stuff?

That being said, I saw it happen once when I was out at UWS Hawkesbury, but I think he was dragged along with a purpose and it's Hawkesbury Campus, there's nothing interesting about.

But school right in the middle of the city?
There is plenty of stuff to waste 2 hours there!
PLENTY OF STUFF!!

There is only one lesson I've learnt in all of this, I need to find me a hot date for my audio tech lecture next week.

Today we talked about Microphone pre-amps, next week I think we are going through the mid-semester exam.

Man, that action.
That is so hot, it can burn your retinas just thinking about it.

Better watch out for those fire exits in the room!

Ok, these are just the questions I was asked about my hate Spike.

I'm pretty sure this involves less swearing.

Also, apologies for the audio being crap, this one was just recorded on my laptop and the mic distorts at a point and can't handle my Spike hate.
I assure you, it bothers me a lot, so apologies for that.

I probably should have also edited the end, just to clean it up a bit, but that one was no editing, so once again it will be things that annoy only me.
